Arthur H. Nelson is the founder of The Nelson Companies and currently its Chairman. Mr. Nelson’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit led to the development in the early 1970’s of Newton Wellesley Executive Office Park in Wellesley, MA, followed by Prospect Hill Executive Office Park in Waltham, MA. Prospect Hill was the first office park in the nation to have a full-day child care center, the first full-day kindergarten at an office park and was among the first in the area to have high-speed internet access. Mr. Nelson has also been the visionary behind hotels, combined office/retail and retail/multi-family developments in the Waltham, MA area. Mr. Nelson’s endeavors over the years have also included the founding or co-founding of multiple non-profits, benefiting area entrepreneurs, local residents and local businesses and including such diverse programs as transportation management, museums, support for local tourism and development of science, math and technology educational materials. In addition, Mr. Nelson was the co-founder of Associates for International Research, Inc., which provides consulting services and data on international compensation to Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Nelson continues today as the President and/or Chairman of many of the non-profits he founded, including Technical Education Research Centers, Inc. (TERC), the 128 Business Council, the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation, Inc., the Charles River Public Internet Center, Historic Waltham, Inc. and the Waltham Tourism Council, Inc.
Mr. Nelson is a Phi Beta Kappa physics graduate of the University of Kansas and holds a law degree from Harvard Law School. Mr. Nelson is also an avid sports fan. |
